Choosing to leave without your children

Some women choose to leave their children with the father, or other carers, at the end of a relationship. There are many reasons why women might feel this is their best, or only, choice.

We recommend the book Mothers Who Leave by Rosie Jackson; a mother herself, who chose to leave her children. Rosie Jackson’s book provides a non-judgemental and informed explanation of the circumstances that lead mothers to make this decision, and the realities of life for women living without their children.

The book is out of print but can be borrowed from your local library, or borrowed through the inter- library lending service for a small fee (about £2.00) - ask your librarian.
