What we've achieved so far
Maypole was registered as a charity in 2010.
Since then we've been working hard to promote safe and fair family law for women and children.
In our first year we have:
- created our web site and information leaflets – providing the information women need through the separation process, all based on research (that was lots of reading, and we need to keep it all updated!)
- submitted a report ‘Domestic Violence, There’s no Escape’ to the Domestic Violence (Home Office) consultation 2009, explaining how abuse presents at separation
- submitted a report ‘Valuing Motherhood’ to the Family Law Review (Ministry of Justice) 2010, outlining the issues affecting women and children at separation
- submitted an Executive Summary of the Valuing Motherhood report to every UK MP
- contributed to domestic violence consultation workshops, to advise on how proposed Government changes might impact on women experiencing abuse, Department of Work and Pensions, September 2010 and March 2011
- responded to the Government's Green Paper 'Strengthening Families' April 2011 on how proposed changes to child maintenance could affect women and children
We want to continue our work until all women can end relationships safely and fairly, and children's full range of needs are recognised in family law. We need your help to do this.
